Enjoying the fun of owning and ATV means understanding the insurance needs of owning one. However, because it is not used on the road, no coverage extends from the personal liability section of a homeowners insurance policy to protect your liability. The coverage available under a personal auto policy is also available to an ATV.

Snowmobiles are generally used off premises for recreational purposes and to protect you personally, liability coverage is a must. Sometimes coverage may be extended from a homeowners policy or a separate policy may be required. If your snowmobile is financed you may be responsible to carry physical damage coverage as well.
